MIT’s Italian student association, MITaly, hosted an event centered on Italian sweets and desserts on Thursday, October 18. Held at MIT’s Strata Center, the event featured several tables focused on regional specialties like sfogliatelle (Campania), ciambelline al vino (Lazio), panettone (Lombardia) and many more. Students and faculty looking for a treat were handed little maps of Italy at the entrance and were invited to vote for their favorite dolce. We visited the Strata Center and took some pictures:

Every year since 2009, Pascal Gangi of Revere has put together a float for the Fisherman’s Feast of the North End. A student at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Gangi follows the traditional float-making techniques he has learned spending summers in his hometown of Sciacca, Sicily. During a recent two-day visit in Boston, Italian Ambassador to the United States, Claudio Bisogniero, met with representatives of the Italian and Italian American communities at the Dante Alighieri Society in Cambridge on June 18. “It is a great pleasure to be here,” said Bisogniero, after an introduction by Dante Alighieri Society President Spencer Di Scala and Comites President Maurizio Pasquale.
