MIT’s Italian student association, MITaly, hosted an event centered on Italian sweets and desserts on Thursday, October 18. Held at MIT’s Strata Center, the event featured several tables focused on regional specialties like sfogliatelle (Campania), ciambelline al vino (Lazio), panettone (Lombardia) and many more. Filippo’s Ristorante in Boston’s North End welcomed Alberto Diplacido from Sulmona (Abruzzo), Italy. Alberto prepared a four course meal for guests who were encouraged to participate in the cooking process. His style of cooking is a blend of old-fashion with modern techniques; sharing some of his culinary secrets, he joked that his grandmother would probably be upset with him for altering recipes. However, as you will see in photos, the guests enjoyed his cooking!
