On Sunday, June 3, 2012, the Italian and Italian American community of the greater Boston area gathered on Boston’s Waterfront to celebrate the 66th anniversary of Italy as a Republic.
Organized by Comites and the Federazione Associazioni Italiane & Italo-Americane New England, the event kicked off at 11:30 a.m. with the Italian and U.S. national anthems, followed by speeches by Maurizio Pasquale (President, Comites), Anna Quadri (President, Federazione) and Consul General of Italy Giuseppe Pastorelli.
The opening ceremony ended with the Consul handing out prizes to the three best teams of the May 27 Bocce Tournament, won by Associazione Gizio, which also came in third place with another of its teams. Second place went to the Sons of Italy.
